Availability - going down

Postby Trausti Hraunfjord » Tue Mar 09, 2010 11:02 pm

Dear friends.

In the past couple of weeks I have not had much time to serve you as I should. More than normally I have been out of time, because we (the family) were told to move out of our home in one month, and since then I have been doing my best to find a new place for us to live. We've been here for 4 years, but the ex wife of the owner of the apartment, returned to Peru from a failed marriage in the US, and demanded to live in the apartment. Her husband is a nice guy whom we have had good relation to, but he wants a normal relation to his ex, because of their son... so he "managed" to extend her demand of "OUT RIGHT NOW" to "out in one month". The housing situation in Peru has changed a lot in the past 4 years.... the prices have soared sky high, and for every house offered, there are at least 10 people applying.
Until now we have not had any luck, and the situation has been getting more and more critical. However, this morning I went to a place that will hopefully be ours... ... in 24 hours we will have signed the contract... or "doomsday" will have moved even closer.

This WILL in any case result in me being off-line for "x" period of time, both due to packing down, packing up and putting things in place, also the time it takes to get a phone and an internet line has to be taken into the picture.

I can therefore not promise anything but that I will try my best, and hope to be back as soon as possible.

This is not a good situation for me or the family... and I am sure you all can understand and have patience (even if it's already stretched) until the situation has been solved.

First things first as they say... probably have to sell one of my cars, due to lack of parking space.... shouldn't be a big issue, since I haven't learned how to drive 2 cars at the same time (no one else in the household with a license).

Wish me the best...and I will do my best to get things back on track.

Sorry to bother you with this reality show, but I have never had a problem with telling things as they are.

Thank you Terry for your understanding... you have been aware of this situation for a few days... it's just really getting to me now, that nothing concrete has changed. This situation has really changed my perspective on life, and I will become a typical bastard, who over-prices everything.... in order to put my family's butt in first place, and everyone else in second butt-row.

Any and all help that you and others can offer to other FFC users, would be highly appreciated... often times I don't know the answers, while I am sure that others do... and I would prefer an accurate answer to be given rather than a bad one... which partially explains my silence in so many threads.

Thanks.... not out yet, but doomsday moved closer, because the owners of the house we were to sign the contract for today, figured out they don't want to rent to families with children, because it might upset the neighbours.  They REALLY care about their neighbours here... don't they? More than they care about people who are willing and able to pay them overpriced rent.

Most of my time is going with trying to locate a new home... visiting places that prove to be beyond "last place on earth to live"... back home to look for more and check and look online and walk for hours checking for rental signs on houses....

This is absolutely tearing me apart mentally.

Thank you... and the moving part is done and over, but the "installation" is still in progress, and it's a darn big installation, with many plugins and packages etc.

Still no internet connection or phone line or satellite TV (who cares apart from my wife? :)) ... but fortunately the local area has a wireless connection that is sometimes quite good (upto 1mbps) but other times it's down to 3-400 kbps.... The connection we will be getting, should be 5mbps, and that's the fastest available in the country... 3mbps better than was possible in the area we lived in before... so I look forward to trying it out.

Still haven't taken the computers out of the boxes... only using laptop to check in from time to time, but with no access to any of my programs or regular stuff.

... now... back to the installation process of the family in the house...... seemingly an endless process, and much more complicated than installing FFC :)

Hi Trausti

Glad to hear that at least you now have a new home. Having had to do something similar myself in the past I know how traumatic it can be. Best wishes for the future.

Regards
